It was a day for fast times and setting PRs, as weve been told by many runners. Plus, Im happy to report that we sent a list of over 450 Boston Qualifiers to the BBA. By the numbers, there were more than 4,500 finishers in the marathon and over 8,400 finishers in the half. Combining the two races, we had an even split of 50 male and 50 female. Thanks to The Dallas Morning News for providing all their coverage from race day in this book. A trio of Kenyans came to town with hopes of setting a new course record and walking off with additional incentive money. They trained hard specifically for this race and worked together in the early stages to ensure a winning time. Logan Sherman, a local elite athlete running his first full marathon was the unknown factor - capable of a winning time but the odd man out among the experienced Kenyans. From the beginning, the pace was exceptionally quick leaving little doubt as to who the challengers for first place would be. Edward Tabut broke away from his two partners and won the marathon with a PR of 2: 16.53, while our female winner, Rose Jebet also set a new PR winning with a 2: Logan Sherman ran a good race and finished 5th; he went on to win the Cowtown Marathon two months later. The Mens Half Marathon was won by Edward Muange in a time of 1:05.02 while the Womens Half Marathon was won by Hyvon Ngetich in a time of 1: 18:24. The Katy Trail finish is conducive to fast times and PRs, and we had plenty this year The 2010 Rock will take place on the first or second Sunday of December. Why no specific date Big changes are in the works for the 41st running to make the race even better Ill be back in touch soon with more specifics. I was born with a dislocated right hip, and I had two surgeries at TSRHC. Thanks to TSRHCs doctors, nurses and physical therapists, my hip is all better. Now, I can play sports and do the same activities that my friends do. I had so much fun as last years Junior Race Director and was excited to be a part of such a great race, in a great city, for a great cause Thank you for supporting the 2009 marathon and the children like me at TSRHC.
